Merry Christmas

From all of us here at the Wintersports School…MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Not only is it that special time of year but NaJIBska is now fully open with new park features and a boarder-cross course, it’s located in the same place as last year…from Silver lift, you take Mighty Peace to Elbow to find the entrance.

Make sure this Christmas is one to remember by riding safely, within your limits and always wear your helmet!

If you’re really lucky this weekend, you may even spot Santa out on the slopes…

World Snowboard Day

Here at Nakiska Ski Resort, we are excited to celebrate World Snowboard Day on Sunday December 18th by offering discounted Private & Group snowboard lessons!

As well as this, when 1pm rolls around we will have some of our snowboard freestyle instructors on hand for a FREE freestyle clinic for all those interested, whether it’s your first attempt at an ollie or you’d like some pointers on your buttering and jibbing skills come along and join in on the celebrations with us!

Nakiska Community Day

Nakiska is excited to continue the annual tradition of offering a FREE day of skiing/riding to the local community through our Community Appreciation Day on Sunday December 11!

FREE Lift Tickets will be offered to residents of Cochrane, Banff, Canmore, Kananaskis Village, Morley, Exshaw, Okotoks, High River and Bragg Creek (proof of residency required). If you’re new to the sport, now is the time to try it out!

Here at Nakiska Winter Sports School will be offering a special rate on beginner TELUS Ski/Snowboard Lessons, to find out more and sign up call 403-232-8477.

New terrain opening for the coming weekend

Great news for the coming weekend…Bronze Chair will be open so Nakiska will have all of its lifts in operation!

This is exciting news for all you Monster Carpet users out there who want to take the next step in your skiing and riding; Sundance and Sweetgrass will be open. This means there is green terrain available for you to gain some bigger mountain experience on!

In addition to this, the Snow-Making and Grooming Teams have been working hard to bring you more runs this weekend and these will include the following; Upper Homesteader, Eye Opener Connector, Lower Eye Opener and the full Kritter World for your kids to enjoy.

Mother nature has helped with 30cms of fresh snow in the last 7 days blessing us with mid winter conditions from top to bottom and bringing our total to over 40 trails open for the weekend. Full season lift ticket rates of $65.95 now apply.

Finally, you’ll be pleased to know that our daycare services are now open and the Finish Line Lounge is now open for custom. We look forward to seeing familiar faces and hope to welcome newcomers to join in the fun this weekend at Nakiska!

Deja Vu for Full Season Opening

Finally the time has arrived for our full season opening. That’s right, this Friday (2nd Dec) will bring Nakiska into the winter season of 2011/12 for full time operation. We will be open 7 days a week and the hours of lift operation will be 9am – 4pm daily!

With the weekend approaching we have been engulfed with the winter snowfall warnings and it looks set to produce some fine skiing and riding conditions. We can’t help but feel a repeat of last season when we had fresh snowfall almost every weekend of the season!

Don’t forget…not only is the mountain opening full time but also our Wintersports School. Our instructing team have been hard at work this week in anticipation of the coming weekend and are raring to go.

So why not treat yourself, a friend or even the whole family to a lesson this weekend in what will surely be a fantastic start to a memorable season!

November Powder!

Great news for Nakiska and Southern Alberta over the last week…there has been a lot of fresh snow and the conditions are snow amazing!

The snow is very forgiving at the moment so it’s a great time to come out and take your skiing and riding to the next level. For this last weekend in November we are still offering private ski lessons for $99 – as of next weekend they will return to normal season prices of $149 so take advantage of it while you can.

Did I hear ‘Long Weekend’!

Great news for all you hungry skiers and snowboarders out there…Nakiska will be open for Remembrance Friday, Saturday, Sunday AND Monday!

If the weather stays cold, we’re expecting to able to ski to the base and even have use of our Monster Carpet! Starting Saturday, our Winter Sports School will be offering beginner lessons on the Monster Carpet with regular season prices in effect.

Along with this, we are still offering early season specials for our private lessons, these are $99 – saving over 30%!

With more terrain opening up here at Nakiska, you can bring the whole family down for a fun filled weekend!

NaJIBska…it’s back!!!

For those of you who visited us last year NaJIBska needs no introduction! However, for those of you new to the park scene, our grooming team have been working hard to put together a fantastic mini-park, located at mid-mountain. At such an early time in the season it’s a real treat to have these features in place so people can get an early start on their jibbing skills for the winter!

Currently in place, we have a ride on flat box, a ride on rainbow box, a c-box and a launch butter box.

As always, make sure you bring your helmet and respect other park users around you to ensure everyone has a fun day out!

Halloween…no tricks, just treats!

For our first experience of skiing in October in Canada we weren’t sure what sure to expect. One thing’s for sure this Halloween…you can forget ghouls and goblins! We have been treated to fine snow conditions already this season and we weren’t going to waste anytime getting out there to join in on the fun.

Currently the terrain we have open is suited for intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, so if you’re looking to come and get your legs back then why not visit us at Ski School.

Ski School will be offering a sweet pre-season deal…$99 private 1.5hr coaching sessions until we are fully open – that’s a huge saving of over 30%!

What an opportunity for some one-to-one coaching at great prices…come and ski the rust off those edges!
